7th International Games and Playful Media Festival

Overgrowth

by Jens Isensee (Germany)

Genre: Interactive video installation

The sensor of this interactive installation detects the viewing angle of the viewer in front of the projection and the 3dimensional scenario is generated and displayed according the recipients perspective. The hand movements of the viewer are captured as well and transferred into the virtual reconstruction of the exhibition room. As light spots the hand movements float over the scenario and organic structures are sprouting at the corresponding places.

The spectators interactions generate an individual sculpture which is growing excessively until it reaches the systems rendering limits. Than it switches and the players interactions are shrinking organic structures again. The result is a vital and diverse play of prosperity and transgression in a closed, self-regulating sphere. After leaving space, the generative structure resets itself, making the sculpture temporary and processual.
